Summer Pops FAQs

Q. How can I purchase tickets to Summer Pops?
A. Tickets for June concerts are $12 and can be purchased online at or by calling 704-972-2000. The July 1 concert, featuring fireworks, is $16. Summer Passes are available for $49 and include admission to all five events. Children under 18 are admitted free. Tickets are available at the gate the day of each performance. All process are inclusive of NC State taxes.

Q. What time do the gates at Symphony Park open?
A. Symphony Park opens at 5 p.m. on days the Charlotte Symphony is performing. Many people arrive at that time to claim a spot on the lawn.

Q. What type of lawn chairs are allowed into the park, and is there an accessible seating area?
A. In consideration of other patrons' sight lines, we ask that you bring low-back lawn chairs or blankets to the park. Those bringing high back chairs should select seating around the sides and top of the lawn. Please also be considerate of space on the lawn when selecting a spot to sit. For example, a 10x12-foot tarp should comfortably fit four adults. A designated accessible seating area is located at the top of the hill to accommodate those in wheelchairs or in need of accessible seating. If you have questions, please call 704-972-2000 Monday through Friday, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to speak with a Symphony representative.

Q. What is the policy regarding inclement weather and ticket refunds?
A. If the weather is severe, and the concert is cancelled due to the inclement weather, guests holding a ticket will be issued a "rain check" for $12 ($16 for July 1) toward a future Symphony concert. If the Symphony is able to perform (minimum of 40 minutes), "rain checks" will not be issued. Follow the Charlotte Symphony on Facebook or Twitter (@CLTsymphony) for live weather updates from the park. Use the hashtag #SummerPops2016.

Q. Will I be able to reserve a seat or place a blanket in the park earlier in the day?
A. Guests may enter Symphony Park and select a location on the lawn at 5 p.m. on the day of the concert.

Q. Can I bring food and beverage into the park?
A. Yes.  Food and beverage (including alcohol) are permitted at the concerts. Food trucks and NoDa Brewing Company will be present at each concert.

Q. Are pets permitted in the park?
A. No.  For the safety and comfort of others, pets are not permitted at the concerts.

Q. Is smoking permitted in the park?
A. Smoking is permitted outside of the fence surrounding the park.

Q. What if I lose something or leave something behind at the park?
A. Contact SouthPark Mall Guest Services at 704-295-0975 to inquire about lost items.

Courtesy Policy 2016 regarding Seating Arrangements

We ask that you are considerate of others' seating arrangements when visiting the park and selecting your spot to sit. Seating that is even or low to the ground, such as blankets or low lawn chairs (no higher than nine inches from the ground, example beach chairs), is encouraged to maximize the view of the stage and enjoyment for all. We encourage those needing and bringing other types of chairs to select seating around the sides and top of the lawn. We may ask you to move your chair to this location if it is not placed around the sides and top of Symphony Park lawn.
We also ask that you are considerate of space on the lawn when selecting a spot to sit. For example, a 10x12' tarp should comfortably fit 4 adults. Using a seating marker larger than necessary is strongly discouraged.

A designated accessible seating area is located at the top of the hill to accommodate audience members in wheelchairs or in need of accessible seating. If you have questions or concerns regarding this policy, please call 704.972.2000 to speak with a Symphony representative.

 Summer Sounds, 10-12-2012 11:14AM

This is a pretty cool place, though hot in the Summer! Outdoor Venue, almost half Mall- locked and busy streets surround the rest of the property!

Music sounds good here! I have heard some pretty Great Live Jazz here!!! Sometimes they play Movies! Sometimes there is an Orchestra, though I have not seen that one.

As a Park??? Unless there is a special event, this does NOT seem like a good place to visit! I LOVE Crowds!

Pops in The Park is an near-ideal space for outdoor festivals and concerts., 06-12-2012 10:04AM

Nice downward-sloping patch of land with plush green grass leading to a modern band shell with an adjacent pond which surrounds the performance space. With plenty of adjacent free parking, this is an near-ideal space for outdoor festivals and concerts.

As others have mentioned, this is not a park in the traditional sense. There are no picnic tables with barbecue grills adjacent to them. With the exception of a few small manicured trees, there are no forest groves of old mature trees harboring their own ecosystem. The only paths you'll find are paved with asphalt and the snake around the perimeter of the grass.

No, this is a manmade venue specifically crafted for the cantilevered bandshell at the bottom of the hill. Not too steep, well manicured grass free of rocks, exposed roots and weeds, and easy to control points of entry and exit. Perfect for the rotation of outdoor festivals that tend to dominate the community calendar during Carolina summers. An ideal setup for the Charlotte Symphony and the hordes of gourmet picnics that spring up around traditional summer pops performances.

The jaundiced eye could see this as a manufactured facade, which compliments the massive indoor retail environment that lies just behind the "park," but others are happy to get past such details and just enjoy an open space that fits its designated purpose just fine. I say, "Enjoy!"
