Welcome to the 2014 CIAA® Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament! 


Beginning February 25 through March 1, CIAA men and women student-athletes from each of our 12-member institutions will be competing for the title of basketball champion and a chance to move up to the NCAA Division II tournament.  

Charlotte, for the ninth year, will serve as the backdrop to one of the most popular basketball tournaments in the country drawing more than 150,000 residents and visitors to the tournament and events surrounding the week.  Want game tickets?  Click here!

Don’t miss a single minute of the action, which not only includes 22 great basketball games, but also the CIAA Fan Experience, a three-day FREE fan festival event that takes up 200,000 square feet in the Charlotte Convention Center and is hosted by the CIAA’s generous sponsors including Food Lion, Lowe's, Nationwide Insurance and Toyota.

The CIAA has a long and proud history of organizing and executing one of the country's most exciting basketball tournaments with 22 games that will take place in the Time Warner Cable Arena over the course of a week. This year is our ninth year in Charlotte, N.C., and once again, the Queen City will be a welcoming backdrop to showcase the talents of our hardworking student-athletes. Fans, alumni and lovers of great basketball come from far and wide to support their teams. Make it a reunion this year and get your tickets today.

Fan Experience Presented by Toyota – Thursday, February 27 – Saturday, March 1

Charlotte Convention Center, Halls A and B

CIAA Fan Experience Presented by Toyotais a three-day FREE fan festival event that is family-friendly and filled with activities. Taking up 200,000 sq. ft. at the Charlotte Convention Center, CIAA Fan Experience will feature free concerts, live entertainment, cooking demos and more. Celebrity guests include Tatyana Ali, Dawnn Lewis, DJ Rock T, Lance Gross, Morris Chestnut, Malcom Jamal Warner and Sheryl Lee Ralph. Keep checking back for updated information.

Fan Experience also will feature free concerts on the Coke Zero Sound Stage and will host a variety of performers. “Throwback” Thursday, February 27 AARP presents Grammy Award winner Regina Belle at 8:30 p.m. followed by Jagged Edge at 9 p.m. “New School” Friday, February 28, the official Lowe’s Day, will feature Mack Wilds at 9 p.m. and on “Super Saturday,” March 1, Monica will perform at 6:30 p.m.

Yolanda Adams Morning Show Presented by Lowe's - Friday, February 28, 5:30 – 10 a.m.

This live broadcast is a CIAA Tournament tradition for residents and visitors to be a part of a nationally syndicated radio show featuring Grammy Award-winning singer turned radio personality Yolanda Adams.

Coors Light 3 v. 3 Tournament - Thursday and Friday, Feb. 27-28, 7 p.m.; Saturday, March 1, 2 p.m. 

For basketball fans looking to create their own tournament excitement, the Coors Light 3 v. 3 Tournament is an opportunity to showcase skills on the court within Fan Experience. Players of any skill level are encouraged to participate – whether new to the game or a seasoned player. Games will be played on Thursday – Friday, Feb. 27-28 at 7 p.m. and on Saturday, Mar. 1 at 2 p.m.

Yolanda Adams Morning Show Presented by Lowe's

Inside Fan Experience, Charlotte Convention Center, 5:30 – 10 a.m.

This live broadcast is a CIAA Tournament tradition for residents and visitors to be a part of a nationally syndicated radio show featuring Grammy Award-winning singer turned radio personality Yolanda Adams.


CIAA Greek Day Party - Watch The Throne

RiRa Irish Pub, 208N. Tryon St., 2 – 7 p.m.
Tickets start at $10

McDonald's Presents CIAA Stepshow Throwdown – Greek vs. Greek
Hosted by: Brian White from "Stomp The Yard" & Jay Dukes

Grady Cole Center, 310 N. King Dr., 7:30 p.m.; Doors open at 6 p.m.

NXL21 and Earthquake Productions Presents the
Official CIAA Stepshow Afterparty

Super Saturday presented by McDonald's

Time Warner Cable Arena, 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Come joins fans, alumni, locals and more for this free event inside Time Warner Cable Arena. Super Saturday is not to be missed! It's filled with cheerleading exhibitions, a dance off, McDonald's DJ competition and concerts.


Coors Light Official CIAA Day Party

EPICentre – Pavilion, 12 – 7 p.m.

For CIAA fans ages 21 and up, don’t miss the first ever official CIAA Day Party! Your all session ticket pass gets you in free to come party with the Coors Light girls, a celebrity DJ and a celebrity Host. Space is limited so get there early as free entry is on a first-come, first-served basis.


McDonald's Presents CIAA School Stepshow "Step Off"

Grady Cole Center, 310 N. King Dr., 6:30 p.m.; Doors open at 5 p.m.
Tickets: $20

The CIAA School Stepshow Step Off features step teams from around the country. Middle school, high schools and step teams will compete in a step off in front of 5,000 fans. In addition to organizing exciting basketball action, the CIAA also devotes time and energy to giving back to the local community of Charlotte.

Education Day

Charlotte Convention Center, Ballroom Level,
High School check-in begins at 8:30 a.m., Middle School check-in begins at 9:30 a.m.

The CIAA and its partners are committed to giving back to the community and will host Education Day for 5,000 middle and high school students. The day provides students with access to information and representatives from colleges and universities to help them explore opportunities after they graduate. Food Lion Teen Summit
Charlotte Convention Center, Room 217A, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. 

Food Lion will host an education workshop teaching teens about healthy lifestyles and create positive habits early in life. The Teen Summit will focus on preparing students for college and careers, and will include conversations on:

  • Internships
  • Mentoring
  • Community Service Requirements and Opportunities
  • College Acceptance Requirements
  • Financial Aid Literacy
  • PWI's vs. HBCU's
  • Importance of College Tours
  • Greek Life (Sororities and Fraternities)
  • Tip Sheets on Scholarships, Grades and More
